    No. The 'Palace is closed' scam is very common outside the gates. Tuk-tuk drivers or friendly strangers will tell you it is closed for a ceremony and offer to take you elsewhere to commission-paying shops. Ignore them and walk directly to the Wiset Chaisri Gate; the palace is open daily from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
